Juan Iglesias writing at his desk

A lover of classical literature since his youth and a passionate defender of the Castilian language, his concern for delving into the deepest recesses of the human being is also faithfully reflected in his literary work.

    Don Magín, profesor y mártir

    Madrid, Editorial Prensa Española, 1971.

Published thirty-five years after Unamuno's death, this novel brings back to life the figure of the great writer in the character of Don Manuel, Rector of the University of Salamanca. The work, which recreates the university atmosphere of the 1920s, raises many of the great themes that still concern us today.

    Surcos

    Madrid, Editora Nacional 1978.

The journalistic articles collected in this book, made with love and respect for the language in which it is written, are not articles by a professional journalist, but by a university scholar who wanted to have intimate dealings with the press. Concerned with certain essential, primary things for human coexistence, the author feels impatient and as if obliged to give us an account of them.

Viaje sentimental a la Salamanca de antaño

    Salamanca, 1996.

It is the second edition, slightly modified, of Don Magín profesor y mártir. The title change is due to the desire to pay homage to Salamanca, the author's birthplace and that of his friend Martín Ruipérez, who encouraged its re-edition. The dedication reads: To Salamanca, which is as much mine as I am hers, I dedicate this book, where reality and fiction are often joined.
